Learn how to reduce your energy bills by powering up at home

The SEC’s first Power up to all-electric information session is now available to watch in your own time.

From the why, what and how of going electric, to steps to reduce your energy bills, there’s something for everyone.

You’ll hear from the Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for the State Electricity Commission and SEC’s Interim CEO Chris Miller. Also joining the session are renewable energy experts Dan Cass, founder and executive director at Rewiring Australia, and Sophie Wright, CEO and founder of Electrify Victoria.

Plus, we tour an all-electric home in Melbourne and hear from the owner, Terry Teoh, on the difference going electric has made to his life – and his household energy bills.

By the end of the session, you’ll see that:

Why go electric?

More and more Victorians are switching their homes to electric by replacing gas appliances with electric and adding solar to their rooftops.

They are turning off their gas and reducing their household emissions.  This isn’t just good for our state, it is good for our households too.

Electric homes are cheaper to run, healthier to live in and better for the planet.

Residents of an existing detached home spend around $4400 a year on energy bills, but modelling shows that an average Victorian household with gas and electric appliances can reduce their annual energy bill by around 32% (or $1400) by switching to all-electric. The savings rise to around 62% – more than $2700 a year – by adding solar.

In the next Power up session, we show how we can help you to go electric with a personalised plan to make the switch.

We look forward to going electric together.
