SEC Consumer Energy Solutions Pilot - Privacy Collection Statement

Introduction

This privacy collection statement provides a summary of how SEC Victoria Pty Ltd ACN 670 408 116 (SEC, we, us, our) collects, handles, uses, discloses and otherwise manages the personal information collected or held by SEC as a result of the participation by a person (you, your, Participant) in the SEC Consumer Energy Solutions pilot (Pilot).

In undertaking the Pilot, SEC collects and handles Participants’ personal information with the aim of assessing use of electricity and other resources in residential homes and to seek to identify solutions to help more Victorian households access renewable energy and improve their understanding of the support available to transition to renewable energy options, including electrification solutions and options.

If you do not provide the personal information requested by us or provide incomplete or inaccurate information, you may be unable to participate in the Pilot or use the SEC Home Electrification OSS portal (Portal).

Collection and Use

SEC will collect personal information from Pilot participants through the Portal or as a result of our other interactions or dealing with Participants. The types of personal information we collect as part of the Pilot may include identifying information (such as your name), contact information (such as your email address, phone number or residential address) and energy usage information (such as details of your property, living situation and household, appliances, energy usage and billing). The Portal collects cookies related information as further detailed in our privacy policy. By accessing and using the Portal, you consent to the collection and use of cookies and cookie related information as detailed in our privacy policy.

We generally collect personal information about you directly from you. However, we may collect personal information about you from third parties in some circumstances.

SEC may use such personal information for the following purposes:

SEC may also use your personal information to send Participants in the Pilot information about rebates, grants and community projects and direct marketing messages relating to the other products, services, offers or programs provided by SEC or third parties that we think may be of interest to Participants. If you don’t want to receive these direct marketing messages, you can opt out at any time through the opt-out mechanism contained in any such communication to you or by contacting us.

SEC may disclose your personal information to third parties for the purposes of undertaking the Pilot, including to:

We will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold about you from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure in a manner inconsistent with applicable privacy laws.

Anonymisation and Aggregation

SEC will anonymise and aggregate the information collected from Participants before using it for reporting and modelling purposes. This means that the information will be stripped of any personally identifiable information and will be combined with information from other participants to create a general overview of trends and patterns relating to energy usage.

Participants have the right to request access to the personal information SEC holds about them.
